I’ll be adding links and resources to this soon, but to get started, check these out:

To start a blog
I use wordpress.com. Just set up an account, pick a theme, customise and get posting! Here’s a video showing you how to set up a wordpress blog in 5 minutes.
To start a podcast
There are lots of ways of doing it, but here’s what I do.
Firstly, get a microphone. There are loads of options. I use an Audio Technica ATR2100-USB and I have a little Blue Snowflake for travel.
Work out your audience, your structure, your themes and topics. Will you be recording solo, duo or group? You’ll probably want a blog to go with your podcast (like this one) where you can post the links to your podcasts.
If I’m recording solo, I record in Audacity. If I’m recording with another person over Skype I use an mp3 Skype recorder and then import the mp3 into Audacity to edit. Here’s a video on recording and editing with Audacity.
I then run my podcast through Auphonic to clean up the audio and do all the compression, equalising, noise cancellation etc. Basically, all the nerdy sound engineering that I can’t be bothered to do.
You’ll need to have your podcast hosted somewhere. I use Libsyn. Here’s a video on how to set up a Libsyn account.
You’ll then want to link your Libsyn (or equivalent) to iTunes so everyone can access your podcast through their itunes account or their podcasting app.
Share your published podcast link through your social media channels and voila! You’re now a podcaster.
